The AOL version 5.x and 6.x browsers are based on Microsoft Internet Explorer. There are several preferences you may change in your browser to improve the quality of your experience on the Internet. You can learn about these changes here.

These instructions are for AOL version 5.x running under the Windows operating system. Configuring other versions of AOL is similar.

step one
Select Preferences from the My AOL drop down menu.

step two
Click on the button for WWW preferences.

step three
Select the Security tab and the Internet content zone. Then click on the Custom Level button.

step four
Scroll through the Security Settings list until you locate the Cookies section. Make sure the Allow per-session cookies option is enabled.

step five
Scroll through the Security Settings list until you locate the Scripting section. Make sure the Active scripting option is enabled. Click on the OK button and your browser should be configured correctly.

more
The vast majority of AOL users do not need to configure the Cascading Style Sheet features of their browser so we have not included those instructions on this page. In the unlikely event that you do need to adjust CSS properties, you can find instructions here.
